Peter Topperwien is an Australian lawyer, entrepreneur and negotiator whose career spans taxation, environmental matters and complex corporate structures. A graduate of the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Laws.
Peter was one of the pioneers of the secondary life market. He established Life Policies of America in 1998 and built Life Policies of Australia, among the first companies in Australia to trade life endowments, developing the financing, trading and servicing capabilities from the ground up. Peter is founder and President of Collegiate Life Ltd, that manages a life settlement portfolio and other alternative assets.
Since 2000, Peter has helped establish and finance many innovative Australian startups, working with early-stage innovation companies across artificial intelligence, agtech, legal technology, intellectual property, education and advanced manufacturing.
He is also a co-founder and CEO of The Black Stuff, an innovative producer of natural organic soil conditioners that help growers cut water and fertiliser use, with promising results against banana Tropical Race disease, drawing on humate resources in regional Queensland.
Across his career Peter’s projects have covered agri-business, corporate restructures, futures broking, mining and investment. Originally from Adelaide, he is a keen hiker and swimmer.
